This week was the most exciting/nerve-racking part of the entire project. The nerve part is trying to meet the deadline and we feel pretty confident, it's just that we might have skipped over something since the pressure of the last week came about so quickly. The exciting part is that we are going to be done regardless and won't have the stress of having to do anything for the project once this week ends. The only part that I will personally be nervous about is presenting, not because our project isn't good, because I feel like it is pretty good, but the fact that I hate being in front of people might be an issue but you never know until you know, so we will just have to find out. The workload lately wasn't as daunting as the other weeks because I thought of this week in comparison to the end of the school-year, but it was the end of genius hour. The feeling of being at the end is still unbelievable though, because I have never experienced such a project like this. There have been projects that were semester long, but they didn't impact me in any way because I procrastinated a lot on them. You can't do that with genius hour, you have to stay on top of things every single week and that I feel like will help me to not procrastinate as much in the future and on future projects.

This week we got more done than we did last week and got back into the swing of things. We got a few more stories done and are looking to finish up by this week and will touch things up a bit if it is needed the next week. This week we caught up on what we are considering to be the work load and now sort of relax because we are on schedule. There really isn't that much more work left to do and we have had our ups and downs, but these were also needed so that we could realize that we needed to work harder and get more work done. We are also getting closer to our goal with the website which has been a pretty big deal because we finally are getting the hang of what to put where and how to use certain things for our site. That made our lives a lot easier learning what we did. This helped move us along and get us on the way to finishing our project. In conclusion for this week, we will add some more stories and should have the website almost if not finished.
This week we added stories and are combining the elements of the website together. This week we got a lot of work done and are on schedule. We worked hard and did a good job catching up to the workload this week and this week was a huge turning point in our project. We are on the home stretch and we are feeling confident about finishing on time and getting a good grade on our final product. We have also realized throughout this project on how to be better people because of the stuff we have learned about the bullies. A lot of the stories we heard ended with the bully getting beat up, the stories we heard were sort of storybook. This means that most ended with a happy ending for the victim. Some were not so lucky, a lot of people that we read about ended up going into depression and some ended their lives. We have learned that we don't want that to happen to anyone, so we are going to start trying to be better people and try to help reduce the amount of bullying that we see go on.
This week is going to be the week where we are probably going to get a pretty good amount of work done. We have got some pretty good stories and are figuring out how to do some stuff on our website and it has made life a lot easier. We have also found that this project might make us better people because we have now realized that it is better if we are just nicer to people. We looked up some stories just to see how bullying has affected some people and how they tried to overcome it. Some stories ended with that person overcoming their bully and using that to fuel their work effort and become the bigger person. They made something out of their lives and are proud of the person they are today. There are also some people who didn't escape and ended up taking their own lives. This is horrible, no one should ever have to go through what some people have had to go through with bullies. They can be used for a more positive outlook though, they set the example and should make people realize that what you say can really hurt someone. It would be hard to deal with yourself if you were the one who made the person do this, because it is your fault. The way to prevent this from happening is that be nice to people, or just if you are the person bullying someone, try to change your ways and be nice to the person, don't put them down, bring them up. It makes life easier for everyone else to if you aren't just some ignorant jerk.
This week we have passed the halfway point of our project and are now in the closing weeks of genius hour. Most people probably think that this task is quite daunting, and it is to a certain degree, but I think we can overcome it. We have started to up our pace little by little and I think it will be enough to be a pretty good and solid result. We need to keep each other in check and set points like we have done recently on the masks and the writing of our plays. We have also started to ask people about them being bullied and we have learned that even some of the most popular kids in our grade and some of the toughest, have been bullied. This made me realize it is true that literally anyone can be bullied, and that alone is terrifying. The even scarier part is that anyone can become the bully, and that is very easy to do and is definitely easier than being one to stand up against the bully. It also needs to be said that bullying in my opinion is when that person is offended, because if you are at lunch and you and your friends are all making fun of each other, you're probably just enjoying yourselves and no bullying is really going on. If it gets out of hand and someone gets made fun of and is hurt by it, then everyone else joins in, that is bullying. Believe it or not, this is the root of where it starts to a certain extent.
This week marks the halfway point of our project and we have kept a decent pace but we may need to work a tad bit harder and add more elements to the website. The good news is we have a whole lot of information and we can use that on our website to good use. As mentioned in past weeks, we have learned some of the ways to prevent bullying and ways to intervene if someone is being bullied, even if it means some harm may already be done. The other part of the website that is giving us a little difficulty is that though we have all the information, we have to be able to put it on the website. This may sound easy and it is to a certain extent, meaning that we have to find out where to put the information and we have to figure out how to put it in the which it a lot more than just hitting control + c then control + v. In the end I feel like we will finish and it will be a pretty good website and if people look at it they can benefit. This is because we have some good information and have some good tips on how to prevent it. We also will have people's stories and that will also help because it will make people realize it could happen to anyone, even if you were the bully, things can flip and you are the one being bullied.
This week Ryan and I worked more on our website and have started to add our stories to it. We have both either seen people being bullied and we've been bullied. Our next move will be to transition to asking and then adding other peoples stories to the website. We may even ask people who have been the bully and ask them how it made them feel, if they regret doing it, and maybe try and help them change what they have done, even if it just a slight change. Even though we are doing the website about anti bullying, I for one will admit I have been the bully, and looking back on it makes me feel awful. The good news is though that a lot of those people are still my friends today and I have tried hard and worked to build back up friendships. Being a bully is sometimes worse than being the one bullied. This is because no one likes a bully, and until you realize it, you will rarely have friends and someone to even just talk to. So to change that, once you realize what you've done, depending on how bad it is, apologize regardless. Then start to be nice and just try to be friends with the person. A big reason bullies have no friends is sometimes they don't realize what they are doing and they don't know what it is like to have friends.
This week we have started to compile a few elements of the website together and have found that making the website isn't too easy. We weren't (at least I wasn't) expecting how much of a workload the website actually is. This is because there is a lot of coding and technical stuff that you either know how to use or you need to figure out how to use it. The good news with stuff like that is you can either be a old school person and try everything until you find what you're looking for or you can literally just look it up. Looking it up is probably a lot easier, but trying things out might help you more in the long run. This is because you can find something interesting and you will probably remember it better, then you will use it later on your website and realize just how useful it is. Looking it up isn't a bad idea either, it just depends on if you know what you are looking for. If you don't, you could be on a wild goose chase for hours because you don't exactly know what it is that you want to find when you are looking things up. The same thing could happen with searching through the creator to find something, but you could also start to find how to use things and create something that you think people will enjoy. After all this information is compiled and the website creation is finished, we will start to add the bullying story element to the table, which should make our website complete.
This week we looked up more information on bullying and found some more information about bullying. We started to add more to the site and we have started to compile some information together into a document. We have looked up https://www.stopbullying.gov/ and have found lots of information about what bullying is and how it affects people. The website above has also shown us many ways to prevent bullying and has shown us ways to stop it. One of the biggest problems with bullying is being a bystander. An example of this would be if someone is being bullied, there are usually people who are just going to stand there and let it happen. This is not a good thing because how would you feel if someone was bullying you and no one stepped in to help try and stop them? Let's say someone is in a fight and you see it happen. What are you going to do? You are either going to stand there and watch, walk away, film it (this could be bullying too in some ways), or are you going to try and interfere to help the person being beat up? Most people would try and say that they would help, but they are probably lying. This is because trying to interfere is not as easy as it seems, because fights aren't easily broken up. The best thing you can do in most situations is don't be a bystander and don't be join in.
This week Ryan and I worked and found some more information on bullying and are finding out the different types. For instance, if there is a fight, typically no one goes over to help anyone, they just go to video it. Which if you are the winner of the fight, you will probably get major props for beating up someone else, depending on who it is. If it is some big kid and they are a jerk to everyone, this may not be so bad as if you beat up a little kid or someone who always gets picked on. This is because they will probably get picked on even more because you decided to beat them up for no reason. Anyway, filming the fight is wrong, obviously because you should try to help someone or maybe attempt to break it up, but there is also another reason, if you get into a fight and someone absolutely just beats you senseless, depending on your reputation, could make you a new target or add on to the bullying you may already receive. We still haven't decided if we wanted to make an Instagram or not because that could be a big thing to add to our already pretty big workload, but have an Instagram could also boost our site, but for now, we are still in the deciding stage of whether to make one or not.
